  • 1 large egg, beaten

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup cornmeal

  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Cooking oil, for frying (about 1 inch deep)
