Prep & Preheat:

Preheat oven toĀ 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour aĀ 9Ć13-inch baking dish.

Cream Butter & Sugar:

In a large bowl, beatĀ butter and sugarĀ until light and fluffy (3-4 mins).

Add Eggs & Vanilla:

Mix inĀ eggs one at a time, then stir inĀ vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients:

In a separate bowl, whisk togetherĀ flour, baking powder, and salt.

Alternate Wet & Dry:

Gradually add theĀ dry ingredientsĀ to the butter mixture inĀ three parts, alternating withĀ milk. Begin and end with flourāmix just until smooth (donāt overmix).

Bake:

Pour batter into the prepared dish and smooth the top. Bake forĀ 35ā40 mins, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Make the Glaze:

While the cake bakes, whiskĀ powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and saltĀ until smooth.

Glaze the Cake:

As soon as the cake comes out of the oven,Ā poke holesĀ all over the top with a skewer or fork. Pour the glaze evenly over the hot cake, letting it soak in.

Cool & Serve:

Let cool slightly before slicing (if you can resist!). The glaze forms a sweet, delicate crust on top.
