Footballer Tahirys Dos Santos of FC Metz made headlines after escaping a bar only to return and rescue his girlfriend. He is currently in intensive care with burns covering 30% of his body. « He can speak, understand, and breathe normally, » his agent, Christophe Hutteau, told BFMTV. Dos Santos’ girlfriend, Coline Lanseigne, who also suffered severe burns over 30% of her body, was airlifted to a hospital in Antwerp, Belgium, according to Le Républicain Lorrain. Another footballer, 19-year-old Hugo Hare, suffered second-degree burns to his hands and face, according to Paris Normandie. He is expected to be transferred to a hospital in the Île-de-France region soon.
