The Unsettling Silence
The black luxury car rolled smoothly through the quiet suburban streets leading to his estate. But as Samuel stepped out, a strange stillness greeted him. No laughter. No sounds of children playing. Just silence.
He entered the grand foyer. The chandeliers glittered above, but the house felt cold, lifeless. He climbed the stairs, listening carefully.
The Cry for Mercy
Following the sound, Samuel moved deeper into the house. His pulse quickened with every step. The sobs grew clearer, trembling, broken.
Then he heard a voice—small, fragile, desperate:
“Please… don’t hurt me and my brother anymore.”
Samuel froze. His chest tightened.
He pushed open the door to Emily’s room, and what he saw made his heart ache.
The Scene That Broke Him
Emily, just five years old, stood in the corner, clutching her baby brother tightly against her chest. Her dress was torn and dirty, her tiny hands trembling as she tried to shield Michael. Tears streamed down her face as she pleaded into the shadows of the room.
When she noticed her father, she gasped, her eyes wide with fear and confusion.
“Daddy?” she whispered, as if unsure whether he was real.
