When should you worry?
In most cases, visible veins are harmless, but there are situations in which they can be a sign of something more serious:
- 
Sudden onset with no clear reason:
If you haven’t lost weight, started a new workout, or have any other known cause, but you notice new bulging or twisted veins, it could be a sign of a circulation problem. - 
Rigid or rope-like veins:
This could be a sign of varicose veins or superficial thrombophlebitis, a condition in which a blood clot forms in a vein near the surface of the skin. - 
Changes in the skin around the vein:
If the skin around the vein darkens, itches, or ulcers appear, this may be a sign of chronic venous insufficiency – a condition in which blood pools in the legs. - 
Sudden appearance of veins on the chest or abdomen:
This is less common, but could be a sign of a serious internal condition such as liver disease or cancer, especially if the veins appear in a mesh or spoke pattern. - Continue reading…
