Homemade Sausage Pie
Instructions
-
Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate.
 -
Add Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the skillet with the sausage and cook for 1 more minute, until fragrant. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
 -
Assemble the Base: Stir 2 cups of the shredded Monterey Jack cheese into the cooked sausage and garlic mixture. Transfer this mixture into the greased pie plate and spread it into an even layer.
 -
Make the Custard: In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, biscuit mix, sage, and pepper until the mixture is well combined.
 -
Bake: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the sausage and cheese in the pie plate. Place the pie plate in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
 -
Add Final Cheese: Remove the pie from the oven and sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheese evenly over the top. Return it to the oven for 1-2 more minutes, just until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
 -
Rest and Serve: Let the pie stand for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. This allows it to set perfectly for clean slices.

Enjoy this delicious, hearty pie warm!
