- Cook the Filling Sauté apples with butter, sugar, and cinnamon in a skillet until soft and golden. Let cool.
- Shape the Pies Roll out pie dough and cut into 4–5 inch circles. Add a spoonful of filling to each, fold over, and seal edges with a fork.
- Fry Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry pies 2–3 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels and dust with sugar or cinnamon sugar while warm.
Tips
- Keep dough cold for flakier crust.
- Don’t overfill to avoid leaks.
- Use a thermometer to keep oil hot and steady.
- Bake instead: 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes.
Storage
- Best fresh, but store in an airtight container:
- Room temp: 2 days
- Fridge: 4 days
- Freeze unbaked pies up to 2 months
