Rosehip seed oil (cold-pressed) – 1 tsp (5 mL)
Light oil often used to improve overall tone and the look of photo-aged skin.
Squalane (olive- or sugar-derived) – 1 tsp (5 mL)
Feather-light emollient for fast absorption and a satin finish.
Clove bud essential oil (Syzygium aromaticum) – 2–3 drops total
Used at a conservative level to provide antioxidant support and a warm, comforting aroma.
Optional boosters (choose 1–2):
2–3 drops rosemary extract (antioxidant preservative effect)
1 drop lavender essential oil (soothing scent)
Makes: ~55–60 mL (fits a 60 mL/2 oz amber glass dropper bottle).
Dilution guide: For a ~55 mL batch, 0.5% essential oil would be roughly 5–6 drops. This formula uses 2–3 drops (~0.2–0.3%) to stay comfortably low and skin-friendly.
Procedure
Prep & sanitize: Clean your workspace. Wipe tools and bottle with 70% alcohol and let dry.
Blend base oils: In a small beaker or measuring cup, combine baby oil, jojoba, rosehip, and squalane. Stir gently for 30–45 seconds.
Finish with aroma/actives: Add 2–3 drops clove bud essential oil (and lavender, if desired). Stir another 60 seconds to ensure uniform dilution.
Bottle & rest: Funnel into a dark amber bottle. Cap tightly, label with date and ingredients, and let it rest 12–24 hours so micro-bubbles settle and the scent rounds out.
