From February 1, 2026, everyday medicines will no longer be reimbursed by the Health Insurance: the French will have to pay for them out of pocket

Said like this, it may seem abstract. But concretely? This means that some common drugs, but considered ineffective by the health authorities, will no longer be fully covered… even for the most fragile patients.

Which drugs are concerned?

The list is long, but among the best known are:

Gaviscon, against gastroesophageal reflux disease
Spasfon, for digestive

Until now, these products were reimbursed at 100% for patients with ALD (diabetes, cancer, chronic diseases, etc.). From 2026, they will only be covered up to 15%, as for the rest of the population.

A prescription will no longer
be enough What surprises patients the most? The fact that even on medical prescription, these drugs will almost no longer be reimbursed. And the majority of mutual health insurance companies do not cover these products, unless you subscribe to a specific option.
As a result, medications that you used to pick up for free at the pharmacy could now represent a significant expense each month.
