‘9-1-1: Nashville’ actor passes away in her sleep at 23

Her agent told TMZ that the disease affected her legs but can also affect internal organs such as the lungs and heart. As a result of her condition, Tate had reportedly given up on her dream of acting until she landed the aforementioned 9-1-1: Nashville role.

In a 2022 Instagram post, Tate reflected on having to use a wheelchair at times, writing: “If I was to live my life to the fullest, I need to use a wheelchair at times… This has been a difficult journey for me because having to accept help and surrender to the progression of this condition has been extremely hard.”

The 23-year-old’s obituary called her “a fighter” who tackled life’s many challenges head-on, “never once making excuses.” She is survived by her mother, Katerina Kazakos Tate; stepfather, Vishnu Jayamohan; father, John Daniel Tate; and sister, Daniella Tate.

The Mayo Clinic describes Charcot-Marie-Tooth as causing smaller, weaker muscles, with symptoms often beginning in the feet and hands. Its impact varies from patient to patient, but the majority of sufferers can experience issues that complicate their day-to-day lives.
