2. Eye problems
It’s known that vision can also deteriorate more rapidly, especially in cases of blepharitis and conjunctivitis. Contact lens wearers have been observed to be at greater risk. Drier environments cause dry, itchy, and irritated eyes. This problem, known as “dry eye,” can be aggravated by spending long periods in an air-conditioned room. This unpleasant condition causes burning and blurred vision.
Another consequence of the air conditioner’s ability to absorb humidity from a room is that the lack of humidity can make us feel cold and stifle thirst. If we forget to drink fluids, we become dehydrated: there is a direct correlation between air conditioning use and the level of dehydration.
4. Air conditioning can cause headaches
As mentioned, dehydration is a common side effect of air conditioning. One symptom of dehydration is headaches, which can also trigger migraines. If the air coming out of the air conditioner is of poor quality, those around it become more susceptible to headaches.
5. Air conditioning makes you feel lethargic.
We often hear positive things about air conditioning, claiming it makes us feel cooler, more alert, and therefore more productive (especially in a work environment). However, this isn’t always the case. Studies show that this artificial environment causes people to complain of feeling sluggish or tired three times more often than in naturally ventilated spaces.
6. Keep your skin fresh at the office
When the weather changes, our skin often tries to adapt. During the cold winter or hot summer, you’ve probably noticed dry patches on your skin. Summer can be one of the most challenging seasons for your skin: with increased UV rays and the use of air conditioning, dryness and skin problems can be very difficult to manage. If you work in an air-conditioned environment, always keep a moisturizer on hand.
